Identifying of methods to extract reaction parameters for a high‑temperature pressure reactor
Abstract
Objectives:
- Literature review for kinetic extraction methods
- Comparison of different models
Results:
- Overview of kinetic extraction methods
- Identification of suitable models for the experimental reactor
Description:
Pulverized fuels, so called alternative reducing agents (ARA) are injected into the raceway of the blast furnace to increasing the efficiency. Pulverized coal is currently the most common ARA, due to a lack of experimental procedures for the evaluation of alternative ARAs. In cooperation between the K1-MET GmbH and TU Wien, a new test reactor for testing ARAs is built. The reactor will be used to screen potential ARAs and to derive conversion rates, which are then used as input parameters for simulations.
To compare different ARAs, suitable methods for determining the kinetic parameters from experimental data are necessary. A literature review to find methods for the extraction of kinetic parameters will be carried out. The different models must be compared regarding the reaction conditions in the test rig. Limitations due to the measurement equipment must be considered.
The aim of this work is an overview and comparison of kinetic extraction methods. The models suitable for the test rig shall be identified.
